Sullivan & Daylin's Wedding

Varadero, Cuba

I was contacted by Sullivan and Daylin to photograph their wedding. It was originally going to be in Valleyview, Alberta then one day out of the blue the called and asked if I would travel to Varadero Cuba with them to be their wedding photographer.

While it was alot of time away from my family I couldn't say no.

This was an event right from the start. A major hurricane just ripped Cuba apart hours before we departed. We arrived with the airport running off emergency power and the island was dark.

When we got to the resort, the main building was open with lights running from a generator. We were given a tea light to take to our rooms. Unfortunately no one had a match...

Over the next couple days we went time where water was available intermittently. This continued right up to the wedding.

This couple was so strong, they didn't let this deter them one bit. They made the best of it and had so much fun with family and friends.

Lucky for me I had charged all my equipment prior to departure. I was able to capture all of the getting ready photos (although hard to do your hair when you in the dark and the water was not working. The ceremony was amazing as they each read their own had written vows.

We captured bridal party photos around the resort before the reception. Then we snuck out during the reception to capture some amazing sunset photos.

Being an a Photographer from Edmonton, Alberta I loved the adventure and challenge of capturing this wedding.
